The Confidence of Color: My Journey to Dressing in Harmony
For much of my life, I dressed in what was “safe.” Neutrals. Black. Pieces that disappeared rather than expressed. Not because I didn’t love style—but because I hadn’t yet learned the language of color. I hadn't yet connected what I wore with how I wanted to feel.
Living between two continents—Europe and the U.S.—taught me that style isn’t universal. In Paris, color is intentional and minimal. In Chicago, it can be bold, vibrant, energetic. I’ve come to see color not as a trend or rulebook, but as a tool—one that, when used well, becomes a quiet form of personal power.
Discovering My Palette
As a personal stylist and color expert, I didn’t always wear what suited me. Like many women I work with, I once stood in front of a closet filled with pieces that technically “worked,” but didn’t work for me. When I began truly exploring color theory, everything shifted.
I discovered that I felt calm in cool tones, radiant in soft jewel shades, and off-balance in warm rusts or overly saturated brights. The more I observed, the more I realized: when we wear the right colors—our colors—our energy softens. Our confidence speaks without trying.
Color Confidence Is Self-Trust
Color confidence isn’t about knowing the color wheel or following seasonal palettes. It’s about awareness. When you begin to understand how color interacts with your features—your skin, hair, eyes—you start to make choices that align with how you want to be seen… and how you want to feel.
For some of my clients, it’s about clarity: replacing the black that washes them out with navy that brings them forward. For others, it’s about warmth: introducing blush, olive, or bronze tones that echo their natural glow. And for many, it’s about giving themselves permission—to let go of “shoulds” and dress in a way that reflects their essence.
Bringing Color Into Your Life
When I work with women at Leni Style Studio, color is often the starting point. Whether we’re editing a wardrobe or shopping together, it’s never just about finding pieces—it’s about finding your palette. The one that feels easy, elevated, and deeply right.
Sometimes it starts with a scarf. A blouse. A lipstick that lights you up. Color doesn’t need to shout to be powerful. It just needs to be true to you.
If you’ve ever opened your closet and felt a wave of “not quite”—this is your invitation. Color can be the bridge between who you are and how you show up. And when you get it right, you don’t just look more confident. You are.
